Hulk Baby!

Eerie similarity...
Don't ya think?
Go to fullsize image

As 'Rissa gets more and more independent, she is insisting on feeding herself, which is fine for finger foods.  Not so great with baby food.

She is taking really well to her sippy cup and pretty much wants to eat whatever the family is eating.  She had some pancakes for breakfast and some chicken fried rice for dinner.  I do love the independence, I just wish it was not so messy!

P.S.  If you click on her hulk-face pic and enlarge it, you can see both of her little teeth coming in.

P.P.S.  Happy Birthday Auntie Barbara!

Goofy Makes Giggles

There is no greater joy than laughter filling the walls of my home!
These are my favorite moments of Mommyhood.
She thinks her brother is so funny, all the time.

In position...

On your mark.....Get set...

She is up and set, but not really going yet.  I like to call this stage the craw-fall. She is soooooo close to crawling. I need to savor ever last moment we have. Right now she will roll across the floor in the blink of an eye, but crawling is on it's way. Currently she will reach forward when sitting and get into crawling position, however she ends up on her tummy when trying to make that first move.

She is so pleased with herself :)

Number of the day

If our life were a Sesame Street episode, today would be brought to you by the number.....
Today's date is 2/22
2- the number of kids in our household
2- the number of new teeth that have appeared this week
2- the number of times we have been to the doctor to get Marissa's 6 month shots
2- the number of times we have not been able to get Marissa's 6 month shots
2- the number of ears that she currently has infected

BOO......but what can ya do?  The doc said "this is your last freebie", meaning that the next infection will involve us looking at eustacian tube placement for her.  Especially with her big brother's history.  So here we go again.

Mohawks, Bubbles and Bears - OH MY!

Because every kid needs the mohawk-in-the-bathtub pictures!
But seriously, isn't he cute with his mohawk (which he calls ho-cawk)?

Well, I may be a little biased, but I think he is even cute without it!

And this one- Mohawk or bear, she can work it!

1st tooth

There once was a girl named Marissa
She was such a sweet little sista'...
She fussed and she drooled
She bit and she chewed
'till finally a tooth did appear....
Now the toothless grin is no longer here.

Tonight I realized her bottom left tooth has broke the gumline!
(You have to enlarge the pic to see her small white speck)

Valentine's Day - 2011

Happy Valentine's Day!
If you are reading this, there is a pretty good chance that we love you!

Nate and 'Rissa had a great day.  He made out like a bandit at school
(and I look like the loser parent giving only a slinky, chocolate, and card to each kid - Who knew? Guess next year I will have to buy each kid a pony to make up for it- Ha ha) and did pretty well at home too.

'Rissa could care less for the toys, but she totally dug the bag and the boxes in which the toys came!

Once again I am reminded how blessed I am with my little family and my amazing husband.
Hope your Valentines Day was just as sweet!

Friends, Hospital Visit and the Rainforest

We had a fun weekend.  Friday night Nathaniel's friend, Payton came over.  They had a blast together!

After what seemed to be an endless cold spell (admittedly I am a complete cold whimp now) the glorious sun finally broke through and it was warm enough for some outside fun.  Yesterday we took a walk, hit the park, fed the ducks, and then went to visit Granny.  We are slowly emerging from our sick hibernation state and returning to the land of the living.  Welcome back Spring, we have missed you!  I was so excited to feel the warm sun beat down on us, I did not take any pics outside but did manage to snap a few of Marissa partying until she could not go any more.....

and one of Nate following the hospital precautions when we visited Granny.  She had a bout of pneumonia beginning last Monday and recently got moved out of ICU.  Thankfully she is doing better now.

Is he not the cutest little yellow man ever?

Then Saturday night we had quite a treat and went for a pre-Valentine's dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, with the Oberts.  It was the first time we went as a family so we had to go all out ...

 We sat by the elephants
Of course, we had to get the signature dessert:
"VOLCANO!!!!!!!!!!"

Then we had to deal with the after-volcano activity!

Even 'Rissa got her first taste of ice cream.

Then we went on the boat ride

It was great fun!

6 month stats

Yesterday I took Marissa in for her 6 month well baby check up.  Her current stats are:
25.5 inches long, 17 pounds, and 44 cm head circumference.  I believe this puts her in the 75% for weight and head size and the 50% for height.  Oh yeah...and she has another ear infection.  Luckily (?) this is technically only #2 for her.  With Nate by this age we were gearing up for tubes, so she is ahead of the race in this regard.  So no shots for her due to the infection.  We will go back in 2 weeks and try again.  So, here is hoping the antibotics work...and she will finally start sleeping through the night.

And now for your viewing pleasure....the adorable-ness of our little Miss.

Sheer JOY!
