Sweet 16

Our sweet girl is 16 months old (of course I am a few days late in publishing this post) and as cute as ever!

Her latest ambitions include :
  • Continuing to challenge gravity whenever possible, and yet is unable to defy it yet.  She climbs constantly and has figured how to shimmy out of her high chair even with the lap tray on so she pretty much has to be under close supervision at all times.  She will climb up and down off our ottoman 15 times in a row before going on to climb on something else....the table, the slides, the stairs, the dog, it really doesn't matter.
  • She is cutting teeth number 10 and 11 now - I forgot how long the teething phase lasts, poor kiddos!
  • She enjoys stacking blocks and immediately knocking them down.
  • She loves "reading" and insists on turning the pages, much to her brother's displeasure when we read our nightly stories.
  • She likes to carry around pens, she is often swiping the one from Daddy's pocket and either attempting to eat it or scribbling on whatever she can.
  • She is able to point to some body parts (eyes, ears, nose, hair, toes, belly button, booty, and chin) consistently.
  • She is saying more and more words daily - Dada, Mama, Bubba, Lola, Bruno (munno), dog, thank you (dan-do), ball, bye-bye, hi, more, uh-oh, oh no, shoe, diaper, no-no, amen and a few others, she also has words that mean "pick me up" and "turn off the lights" (she loves light switches).  She is beginning to string some of these words together now. like "no-no Lola" and "Hi Dada"!  She also likes to say "come on" when she wants us to follow her somewhere.
  • She is staring to put animals and their noises together especially barking at dogs and mooing at cows.
  • She loves to assist all of us with putting on our shoes and socks; anytime we have our shoes in eye sight, she is bringing them to us.
  • She likes to play "night-night"/"good morning" game with us.
  • She is a dancing queen, any time music is on you will find her dancing in a cute straight-knee rocking motion, especially when the Hot Dog Dance comes on.
  • She loves to eat (she comes by that naturally)...and as you see in the picture above, she enjoys brushing her teeth.
  • And she still is ultimately amused by her brother.  To this day, nothing elicits giggles like he can.  We are so thankful he loves her so much!
